Anime vs. Technology: The Portal
A basement wall transformed into another dimension.
Created for UG Tech / Upgrade Guy, a technology-focused YouTube creator, this custom residential mural transforms an ordinary basement workspace into an immersive world built around anime, gaming and technology.
The concept centres around a massive portal dividing two worlds. On one side, detailed anime-inspired characters and fantasy environments take over the room. On the other, the mural transitions into a futuristic technology-driven cityscape filled with digital and sci-fi influences. Mario, Zelda, Samurai Jack, Invincible Man, Magic Shroom, Magic Star, Luffy, Zoro (One Piece), Mount Fuji, Emojis, Projector, Headphones, Robot Vacuum… You name it, its in this mural.
But the mural wasn’t designed to simply sit flat on the wall.
JD Art used airbrush realism, perspective and 3D optical-illusion techniques to visually push the walls beyond their physical boundaries, making the basement feel larger and creating the impression that the viewer can look directly through the wall into another world.
Existing hexagonal lighting was incorporated into the environment, while custom UG Tech branding and technology-inspired details connect the artwork directly to the creator and his content.
The result is part mural, part content backdrop and part optical illusion.
