Chicago Deep Dish Pizza x JD Art

Two Hours. A Few Cans. A Few Slices.

With only a few hours of notice, JD Art joined a community graffiti wall at Chicago Deep Dish Pizza in Edmonton, where local artists were given space to create freely.

JD Art’s section features an astronaut emerging through the wall, spray can in hand, painting the JD ART name across the building. Created in just over two hours, the piece combines airbrushed realism, graffiti lettering, hearts, texture and spontaneous mark-making into a raw interpretation of the JD Art identity.

There was no major commission or lengthy design process behind this one. The exchange was simple: a wall, creative freedom and a few slices of pizza.

Created alongside work from other artists, the finished wall has become a collaborative outdoor gallery behind an Edmonton pizza business that has been part of the city since 1996.

Sometimes the best walls happen simply because somebody says, “You can paint here.”
