Edmonton's Kirk Centre unveils new mural
“The Kirk Centre Mural: A Symbol of Community, Colour, and Connection”
This CTV News feature takes you inside the bold, geometric mural transforming the side of the Kirk Centre in Edmonton. Designed and painted by artist Jamelle Davis (JD Art), the piece blends 3D illusion, stained glass inspiration, and vivid colour to celebrate the spirit of inclusion and accessibility.
The mural includes abstract portraiture symbolizing cultural diversity, LGBTQ+ pride through vibrant rainbow hues woven into the design, and roses representing a preserved rose bush planted in memory near the foundation. With a stained-glass feel that nods to the Centre’s faith-based roots and community space, this artwork doesn’t just decorate the wall — it opens it.
This is more than a mural — it’s a landmark. A space that honours the past, welcomes the future, and holds space for all.
